A bit ago, for the comedy/variety show that I have a hand in organizing, I did a fake "This American Life"... not that I have that much against TAL, or against Ira Glass in particular, but I find something rather desperate about the show. In that they try soooo hard to find something profound in things that are so mundane. But i suppose that's the appeal.
